Portsmouth City Council is a UK unitary local authority (directly employing over 4000 people) providing public services to the residents of Portsmouth. The City plays a significant role in the sub-regional economy as a driver for economic activity and growth. The Council is a key Member of the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire (PUSH), a partnership of 13 local councils based in South Hampshire and, a supporter and participant of the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (SELP) which is predominantly private sector led. The executive support for the SELP is based at the Council and is line managed by the Council's Chief Executive.
